Game night is one of the ways we enjoy connecting as a family. It’s a great way to have fun, focus on one another, and it doesn’t take all night - unless you play monopoly (which I would never recommend that game here!) This mama doesn’t have time for that!
I like games that are easy to learn, fun for the kids and parents, and 20 minutes or less. All of my recommendations will follow this criteria.
SUSHI GO!
- PLAYERS: 2-5
- AGE: 8 + - I think someone as young as six can play this game, they just might not understand the strategy to win.

- TIME: 15 minutes
Pass the sushi! In this fast-paced card game, the goal is to grab the best combinations of sushi dishes as they whiz by.
This game is played in three rounds. it took playing a few hands to learn the best sushi dishes and how to get the most points. But keep playing! This is a fun, basic strategic game good for all ages! And Dad who always looses has won a few games.
We play this one often!
TICKET TO RIDE - NEW YORK
- PLAYERS: 2-4
- AGE: 8 + - Younger kids can enjoy this game too - you just need to help them a little.

- TIME: 15 minutes
Race through New York City in 1960, marking your routes with taxi cabs. This is a simple Ticket to Ride game with shorter routes. It’s easy to learn and the rounds are quick.
This is a game parents and kids can enjoy together.
Buildzi
- PLAYERS: 2-4
- AGE 6+ - Younger kids? No problem give them the blocks and let them build the tower as tall as they can.

- TIME: 3-5 minutes.
This is a fast-stacking, nerve-racking, block-building game! Quick, grab a BUILDZI card and start building. Be the first to build your tower, but — careful — don’t let it tumble.
We love this game! It’s quick, it’s easy, there are a few variations, so it never gets old.
The best part of this game, is I will find my youngest just building the towers and playing by herself.
